Do’s and don'ts in Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal also known as ‘Roza-e-Munavarra’ is a mausoleum that the Mughal emperor Shahjahan built to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaj Mahal. Located on the south bank of the River Yamuna, Taj Mahal is considered the crown of all palaces and one of the world’s seven wonders. Let us see the do’s and don’t while visiting the Taj Mahal.

DO’s:
  • You can choose online to buy tickets for visiting the monuments allowing you to ease your time and hassle.
  • You can go early to visit the mahal so that you may avoid crowds, and it’s easy for you to go with the security checks and sightseeing.
  • Kindly pay attention to the checks by army personnel. The women officer will check women, and the men officer will check men. Once the check is done you will be allowed to enter the Taj Mahal campus.
  • Tourists must keep the monuments clean and neat.
  • You can use a battery car and golf cart to reach the entrance gate of the  Tajmahal from the parking area.
  • Keep the Taj Mahal area pollution-free by avoiding highly polluted vehicles around 500 mts radius.
  • You can visit the Taj Museum free of cost between the time of 10 AM to 5 PM.
  • Take a small bag that includes necessary items. Water bottles, shoe covers, map of Agra for tourists’ guidance are provided inside for all the tourists.
  • Wheelchairs for differently able and first aid kits are also available at the ASI office at the Taj Mahal.
  • Please wear shoe covers when entering the main mausoleum of the Taj Mahal.
Don’ts :
  • Avoid carrying backpacks or other large backs that are not essential when visiting the monument. Because it is not allowed to be taken with you during sightseeing and it will be kept in a storage room by providing you a slip as proof and you should keep them safely with you by the time of exit you can collect your belongings by showing the slip. so better to leave all your belongings in your hotel rooms before visiting the Tajmahal.
  • Electronic devices except cameras such as drone cameras, laptops, mobile chargers, tripods, and power banks are strictly prohibited inside the monument.
  • Photography is strictly prohibited in the main mausoleum.
  • We should avoid touching and scratching or scrubbing the walls of the monument surface to take extra care to maintain the privilege and heritage of the great wonder.
  • We should not make noise in the mausoleum to avoid disturbance to other visitors and caretakers of the Taj Mahal.
  • Avoid carrying cigarettes or smoking items, alcohol, ammunition, fire, tobacco products, liquor, knives, or any sharp items with you inside the Taj Mahal.
  • Do not carry any eatables including baby supplements, as eating and smoking are strictly prohibited inside the Tajmahal. snacks, beverages, food, toffees, biscuits, and chocolates are not allowed inside the Taj Mahal. It is advisable to preserve our heritage by cooperating with security personnel checks and maintaining the cleanliness of the premises.
